You remember these beauties?
They were a major MAJOR find at a Salvation Army near my Uncle's house. For $7.50. For both. Yep, you heard me. For BOTH. I was so excited I couldn't even stand it. So, before long, they were stripped of their 70's orange floral down to this:
That would be the original red leather seats. Why would you cover these up, right?! The red would have been so glorious. Sadly, I have no clue as to how to fix them up and restore them correctly, so I kept the red leather (simply cleaned it up with a little bit of cleaner) and then went back to my original plan. I loved the original wood, so I wanted to keep it... so I sanded it down a bit, oiled it up, and recovered those sad red seats. And voila! Here you have them.
I may go back and strip down the wood and stain it darker, but I love the gray velvet. Simple and easy, right? The best part? The fabric was also found second hand. For $.75. The total cost of this makeover (including buying a hand staple-gun and staples) was roughly $20.
They are now happily residing at my dining table. More shots of my new place to come!
