Healthy Living

Here's the thing... As much as I love interiors, there's a bunch of other things to life, and here at Living on the Chic, I totally believe at embracing all the aspects of life and bringing them all together to live on chicly, yet cheaply. As some of you might have read this post a while ago, but I thought I'd add a little more to it and update what I've been doing in my own life with it! So, without further adieu... here's a few more additions to what you can do to be healthy and happy.

1) Green Juicing. Seriously, this stuff is addicting. I make a 'green lemonade' every morning with my eggs, and believe me. I've not only noticed a difference in my energy levels, but also how my body functions. It's cleared up my skin and makes it look so good! Here's my recipe for my morning juice:

2 celery stalks
1 handful of spinach
2-3 kale leaves
1 Granny smith apple
1 lemon

You can add all sorts of stuff to it, but I seriously love this mixture. You'd think it'd been a little bitter with all the greens in it, but it's actually pretty sweet with the apple and lemon in it! I so love it.

2) Detox. I have a regular detox bath that I do, that seriously rejuvenates me everytime I do it! Here's the recipe:

Mix together
1 cup of epsom salts
1 cup of baking soda
3 tablespoons of ground ginger
Keep in a tub (I use a tupperware container)
Add 1 cup of dry mixture to bathwater
Add 1 cup of apple cider vinegar to bathwater
Get in, sit back, and enjoy the wonderful-ness of the bath for 20-30 minutes

I absolutely love this bath! I do it before bed most of the time, and the next morning wake up with my skin feeling super soft and wonderful! Another detox that I've done was for Kidney Stones. Now, I'll admit, I was skeptical of this detox at first... but once I did it, holy moley! Now, I'm not a doctor, but I've done my bit of research about this, so I feel comfortable telling you about it.

Here's what you do:
Drink 6 cans of coke (or about 2 liters) within 2 hours of time. Once you drink the last cup/can of coke, steam a bunch of asparagus and then blend it up into a smoothie type texture in a blender. Drink the whole asparagus pulp and let it do it's work.

The coke has phosphoric acid, which breaks down the kidney stones that have built up and then the asparagus helps to clean out the sugar and pieces left behind. I did it this weekend and boy! I feel a million times better.

3) Drink a TON of water!! Seriously, it makes a HUGE difference. I've made it a rule to drink a glass as soon as I get out of bed and one after every time I go to the bathroom. Which is actually a lot. Haha, I know it sounds silly, but my reasioning is that everytime I'm going (ahem) to the bathroom, I dispelling water that I had drank earlier, so I need to replace it. And because I can remember to do it then. I usually have a little drink cup that I keep at my desk at work, but I always forget to refill it, unless I go out to the bathroom. Simply, easy way to make sure you get enough water and you get up and walk around instead of sitting at your desk all day long.

Are there things that you do in your life to keep yourself on the healthy track?? I've been exploring the Slow Carb Diet and the Paleo, too. I've been serious about staying on track this time, and I think it's working! :)

I love this Trissta!
You have made me rethink what I do.
I exfoliate 2 times a week. Dry brush once a week. Drink detox tea and eat hummus but dang I need to step up my game. :)

these are such good tips! i am willing to dry that juice thing, even tho i am horrified by the color of it! lol. but what a great way to pack in fruits and veggies!

i have noticed that sugary things and coke can really impact my moods. i'll indulge and feel great for a minute or two, and then end up on a crying jag. perhaps it is coincidental, but perhaps not. my system is getting more and more sensitive, so i guess i need to pay attention to what makes me feel good, and what makes me feel bad. and learn from it already!
