Chic Tip of the Week

It's that time again! This week I have Amanda from Recycled Consign and Design with us! Amanda is an amazing bargain hunter and is based out of... wait for it... you'll never guess.... Cedar City, Utah! Yes! Another thrifting designer in Utah. I think I've met another BBFF (Blogging Best Friend Forever). Today, she's sharing with us some great tips about shopping second hand and getting AMAZING deals! EEEEEEEE! I know, right! If someone can tell me how to save money, I'm always willing to listen!

PS.. Don't forget to enter my sister's Giveaway!! Please!

Hey dolls, Amanda here from Recycled. I am so excited to be hanging out over here today, what a fun series right?
We could use more chic tips!

 After giving the topic a lot of thought I decided that since I own a Consignment Boutique I would share my Top 5 tips on how to Consignment and/or Thrift Store Shop.

1.} Go with open eyes and mind:
Sometimes we get stuck on the exact piece that we are wishing for and may never find it! This can make us miss out on other pieces that might fit the bill and be even more unique. Try to shop thinking  more about the space you need to feel...like if your looking for a coffee table, or a bookcase. Look for the unexpected.

2.} Look for pieces that can be {re}purposed:

 {here}

{here, here}

If you are shopping at a thrift store you will rarely find pieces that you use in the "as-is condition".  Look for solid wood, unique lines and details. Your Mama always said "don't judge a book by its cover" in this case JUDGE away! The uglier + rough condition= better price.

3.} The Hunt:
Don't get discouraged because you didn't find the perfect thing after one day of shopping! It may take awhile, always be on the hunt. You never know when you will stumble across what you were looking for.

4.} Kiss butt and make friends:
The more you shop at a certain store and the more friends you can make there, you are more likely to find someone who is willing to call you when things that might be of interest to you pop up. Plus they will be more willing to negotiate the price! So put on your friendly face and get out there!

5.} Know where to shop in your area:
Everyone has thrift stores in their neighborhood, not always consignment shops {at least not as chic of ones, like mine hehe} but regardless of what you have available, know where they are and "Hunt" there. Thrift stores can get a bad wrap because most of the time they do stink and are messy. Just get in there and start digging. You WILL get dirty!

For those of you who maybe don't want to or lack the time for DIY's, a consignment store is the perfect place for you. There are tons of great deals to score and if it's like my store everything is in take home condition!
Plus smack your grandma great prices!

*BONUS TIP*
Always buy things that make you smile to look at! Other wise know as ugly pretties. Let me share some examples....

 Your home should be filled with lots of eye candy.
