Investing in Art

Well, remember the post about creating your own art? This is the opposite of that post. Yep, I'm giving you options. Very amazing options to help you decorate your home. Art is one of those things that is in the eyes of the beholder, but I find if I meet or talk with the artist that I'm much more appreciative of what they have created and am much prouder to host it in my home. Today, I'd like to introduce you to such an artist. Jen Ramos is a fellow blogger who writes Made by Girl. She is by far one of my favorites, and made an even bigger impression on me when she started her site Cocoa&Hearts. Jen is an amazing artist and is so simple with her artwork that  you may think you could achieve it at home on your own, but in reality... she is so modern and much more complex that you'd be stumped that you can't achieve the same thing she's creating. That's how modern art is, my friends. It's simple and you think you can create it on your own, which you might be able to pull off, but in reality the artist is what makes the work special. How they put their emotion into the work and really get into the colors and textures. It's a science... Anyways, not that I'm done preaching about copying art... I'd like to show you some of Jen's great works.

This one is called lipstick dots... I love this one!

This one is properly titled Flowing. The flow and movement within the piece is just... amazing.

This one... Gold and Wine. I love the more geometric shape of this one... Simply marvelous!

Now, while Jen's artwork is amazing, it is also quality work with a quality price. If you can't afford it, there are plenty of other options available through Etsy or even galleries. Just keep in mind when buying original artwork, that it can be pricey and that it is an investment. My great friend Junior, who is an avid art lover, taught me well concerning the value of art. If I were able to afford it, I would snatch them up in a minute. But since I can't... here are some from Etsy.

This is a cute one from seller Comtemporary Earth Art

This one is from Present Paintings

You can find plenty of alternatives, or try your hand at painting or photographing, but just remember the value of a trained artist or photographer is worth the price. They know what they're doing when it comes to working with paint and they spend a TON of time working on these pieces. Perhaps it's just the time that I've spent studying art myself, but I have a very great appreciation for what they do.

So here's to all the artists out there... and the aspiring ones too.

PS... La-La Lihn is giving away one of Cocoa&Hearts paintings!! Be sure to enter!

I completely agree! Good artistry is valuable! I have yet to make a huge investment for artwork but now I'll have my eye on a few for when I do!
